The last few years have been trying for me and my husband, even after getting through cancer treatment, we experienced a series of unfortunate events – mostly revolving around our appliance. First it was the dishwasher, which my husband managed to fix himself. Then our vacuum, chest freezer, washer, dryer, and finally our air conditioner died. When it rains it pours, eh? We were able to pay off a new washer and dryer, and this year we replaced our air conditioner in time for the summer. It’s a huge relief, because I can hardly sleep when it’s too hot inside!
Speaking of summer, I’ve been working on lots of new summer tsumami-zaiku pieces. For the month of May, this includes wisteria. I mentioned before that I usually make two-tone wisteria, but have been wanting to create gradiated pieces just to mix thing sup a bit. Last week I made up a brooch in dark, middle and light purple tones, and this week I’ve expanded that to a hair pin. This one’s a medium sized piece, but I definitely want to do a larger version later on.

I still have several resin butterflies left that I recovered from an older experimental piece, and I’ve been tinkering with the idea of doing a really large 9-strand wisteria hair fork with butterflies. We’ll see how it goes; it might be a project for 2026, since my schedule for this year is already pretty full up!
Since it’s the end of the month, I should also let y’all know that this piece – and many more – are now available in the Shop. 🙂 If you’re interested in owning one of my pieces, take a gander of what’s on offer.
